Keeping it above deck in the polish world. Scuttling FOMO for happy fingers (and wallets).

Shimmer me Fingers was born after I stopped biting my nails and got into nail polish. After decades of stubby, chewed fingers, it was easy to fall deep into the world of indies: lush colors, sparkling finishes, and the fear of missing out on a limited drop.

With a full Helmer (iykyk) I began evaluating my purchases a little differently, realizing that most of my coveted impulse buys were usually either a) a dupe of something I had, or b) not aligned with my style. After less than a year in the polish community, I had a version of basically everything.

This sparked two initiatives.

1) enjoy what I have. it’s not about new colors, it’s about maximizing the mani process: how can I use what’s in my collection? with the best prep: top coats, base coats, and tools that bring joy.

2) make my own dupes. As a lifelong creative, I realized that it would be more fulfilling to create my own. I began to procure professional ingredients and mix ideas that made my heart sing, from top coats that smell amazing to bottles matching something sold out from a limited drop three years ago.
